Microsoft is releasing a new update for Windows 10 that will cause the hostid to change for all Niagara version before 4.3 and 3.8u2. Once you get this update you will find that 4.3 has a different hostid then older versions. This is not good because we cannot have two different licenses without paying for two. The best way I have found to get them in sync is to delete a registry key and regenerate Niagara 4.3’s hostid. A new license will still need to be request, so try to get your old hostid first to make it easier.
Here are instructions to delete the key and get them in sync:
• First run ‘nre -hostid’ in the console of 4.2 and 4.3, the hostid’s will be different.
• Next go to the registry editor from the run command by typing ‘regedit’. Once in the registry editor navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Niagara4 and click the Niagara 4 folder. In the right pane delete a key name ‘hid3’.
• From 4.3 run ‘nre -hostid’ again, 4.3 should have the same hostid as 4.2 now.
